  • And the first Nett Champion is - Simon Daysh

The 2015 Warwickshire Nett Championship - The County Membership Scheme - Monday 13th July - Robin Hood GC - The weather wasn't perfect (drizzle for most of the day) but the course was and with greens running at 12 on the stimpmeter (despite the damp conditions), the 62 CMS members who gathered for the first Nett Championship soon found it a truest test. First out led for much of the morning with 31, then 33 seemed like the winning score before Rugby's Simon Daysh, last out, handed in 36 points to claim the title (and he blobbed the last!).

  • The Bears show their claws

With June's narrow and cruel away defeat to Notts still painfully fresh in the minds of your 2nd Team Captain and several of the selected players, the team took on last year's 2nd Team League winners Derbyshire at Henley Golf and Country Club, looking to get back to winning ways and rekindle our title challenge.

  • One we had to win

Warwickshire Boys v Staffordshire Sunday 5th July 2015 at Ingon Manor. This match was effectively a league decider, as both Staffs and Warks had played two, won two, with the remaining match against what is expected to be inferior opposition. We were fortunate that the thunder, lightning and torrential downpours could be seen all around us, while our match was played in sunny windy and dry conditions.

  • Down But Not Out

Our third Midland League game of the year was away to Derbyshire at Mickleover Golf Club on Sunday 5th July. Mickleover measures 5745 yards, not the longest golf course but possibly the trickiest venue we will play this year. With plenty of tight fairways, dog-legs and some blind second shots it proved to be a very challenging day for us.

  • SOME LIKE IT HOT

2015 WUGC Seniors Championship Stratford GC Tuesday 30th June - With some 15 or so Category 1 golfers in the field, the competition would always be as hot as the weather, with the closing holes giving us the winner as well as the winners of the various categories, well handled by the County Secretary Matt Nixon.

  • Tony Reading

Tony Reading died on 24th June 2015 aged 81, after a lengthy battle with cancer, bravely borne and fought. He was President of the Warwickshire Union of Golf Clubs in 2002 and 2003.
