The McEvoy and the 4 Counties Team

The week after Easter is always the date of the McEvoy trophy, 72 holes played over Copt Heath and open only to the best Boys in the Country. This year, the cut off point for handicaps was the lowest it has ever been and only three of our Juniors had made into the field, with Jak Hamblett, Boys Captain having to withdraw from both this competition and the 4 Counties, through injury late last week.

We will be represented in the McEvoy by Dean Lake (Moor Hall) and Copt Heath junior Sam Hufton. Sam had a wonderful finish to last season to reduce his handicap low enough to make it into the Championship whilst Dean Lake played last year so he has the benefit of this experience. If you would like to watch some excellent golf, both Dean and Sam woould be very appreciative of your support and you will also be able to see the very best from elsewhere, including a number of plus handicappers. All players play 36 on Wednesday 14th April after which there is a cut for the final 36, played on Thursday 15th.

Last year, a number of matches were under par when our team won, beating Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire for the third year in a row. The 4 Counties will be played at Broadway GC, about 20 minutes south from Stratford, and your support will be very welcome as Warwickshire go for four wins in a row.
