Representing present Juniors and players who will be at the forefront of County golf for the next two years were Steve Mumford and Tom Price. They started with a 69 (-1) then had one of the best rounds of the day, a 65.
Over the day, the pair had a hatful of birdies over the day (10+) but made a few mistakes in the morning round.
There was another Junior playing – Stuart Yates – partnering his father Steve for the second time. Father and son were sharing the scoring for most of the round but Stuart was contributing lots over their final 9 holes which included birdies on the last three holes.
The Junior teams were able to compare their scoring with the ‘star’ player for the day, Nick Dougherty. Nick was playing with Bill Bruce, once a Warwickshire Amateur and now Pro at Stoneleigh. They opened with a 65 and followed that up with a 63 for 3rd place.
The winners were Adrian Carey and Sam Walker with 125
