The fourth day of the County Finals and Hertfordshire, last year's runners-up, were the team that Warwickshire had to face on a cloudy morning. Charlotte Dalton & Hannah McLoughlin led the way in foursomes with birdies on the first two holes but unfortunately the experience of the Hertfordshire pair overhauled their flying start and they finally lost 2&1. Claire Howells and Lisa Barton fought a hard match but also lost 2&1. Final pairing of Rachel Rusted and Liz Galland could not recover from a slow start.
Lisa Barton, playing her eighth match in four days, could not suffiently pressurise the England International Charlie Douglas. Hannah McLoughlin had a tight match until the turn and finally lost 3&2. Ashley Cramond had similar fortune despite holing some good putts. Claire Howells after starting slowly pulled back from 4 down to take her match to the difficult eighteenth hole, forcing her opponent to par the hole to win the match.
Charlotte Dalton maintained her form and was rewarded with a 3&2 win to claim Warwickshire's only point of the day. Liz Galland, playing in her first singles match of the week also took her opponent to the eighteenth hole to finish one down.
Hopefully in tomorrow's matches against Lincolnshire the team will finally get the result they deserve, as they are all playing well without having the rub of the green.
