The first game of the season against Berkshire was to be played at Ladbrook Park GC in early July but regrettably had to be cancelled.

The match against Buckinghamshire was played away at Ellesborough GC on Saturday 17th July and resulted in the first win of the season - 5 games to 4. The morning foursomes saw a 2 games to 1 defecit, however the afternoon singles saw our players coming good by winning 4 out of the 6 games. A special thanks to Claire Forster (Robin Hood GC) who stepped in at the last minute when Kath Ashley had to pull out.

Oxfordshire were the next opponents on Monday 19th July, when they played at Stratford Oaks GC, and this did not go so well though. All 3 Foursome matches were lost in the morning. However one of the matches was very exciting as partners Rachel Rusted and Hannah-Pearl Wood, having gone 5 down at one point, held out until the last putt on the 18th before finally losing. The afternoon Singles saw us winning only 2 of our matches, thus losing the match by 7 games to 2. There were 3 newcomers to this team at Stratford Oaks - Mandy Newey, Yen Pham and Hannah-Pearl Wood - who all gave their all and with Hannah-Pearl winning her Singles match 4 games to 2, this was a great debut for her.

Bobbie Waugh, 2nd Team Captain, who had put herself down as reserve against Oxfordshire, ran on the the first tee without even a practice swing or putt, as she had to stand in for one of the girls who injured her ankle. After she had won her match, she was heard to say "Who needs practice? - Just get out there and Play!!" Hope the Team coach was not in earshot!
