Thanks to her inspired leadership, our team spirit has become the envy of others and the spur of our success.

As we look back on 2005, congratulations must also be extended to Felicity Johnson on what can only be described as an 'awesome' (her words not mine) year. I was privileged to watch her become one of the youngest-ever English Ladies' champions at Burnham & Berrow and since May she?s never looked back.

Her international role has been significant and she has played a huge part in four major team wins this year. She helped England win the Home Internationals, the Girls International Matches and the Spirit International Amateur Championship in the USA; and with GB&I, Felicity was part of the winning Vagliano Trophy team.

She has also been recognised by the media, and is now the proud award winner of The Daily Telegraph Woman Golf of the Year title and BBC Midlands Sportswomen of the Year! . An exciting future therefore beckons for our young star and with the Curtis Cup matches taking place in the USA in 2006, the prospect of having a Warwickshire player in the squad is looking exceptionally good.

But despite all this fame, her passion and commitment for county golf is unfailing and she has become a role model for our talented girls to aspire to.

This all means that the county has never been in such good shape and the prospects are even more exciting for 2006 with so much burgeoning young talent and new blood coming to the fore.

But county golf is not exclusive but inclusive.

There are competitions and events for everyone, so please look out for the 2006 Fixtures Diary which will be available at your clubs in February. All the events represent excellent value, and for 2006 we're adding a stronger social aspect to the calendar by re-introducing the opportunity for ladies to enter some competitions with a playing partner.

My vision for Warwickshire over the next two years is therefore to build on our success, nurture our young talent and encourage club ladies of all playing abilities to feel a real sense of belonging to Warwickshire by becoming actively involved under the county umbrella.

Thank you for your support and may I take this opportunity of wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and lots of good golf in 2006!
