Nearly half of the first team training squad this year are aged 18 years and under, which means we really have youth on our side in 2007 and beyond.

I am delighted to have Bev Belcher as my Vice Captain and both of us are very much looking forward to this year's events and matches, which will witness the coming together of youth with experience in Warwickshire.

A void has certainly been left with the departure of Claire Dowling, who has retired from 1st team county golf, and Felicity Johnson, who has joined the professional ranks. We shall all be watching Felicity's progress with much interest this year, which will certainly be an exciting one having gained her LET card after qualifying in Spain last November.

But despite all this fame, Fliss's passion and commitment towards Warwickshire has been unfailing and as she embarks on the PGA's national diploma, I hope it won't be long before we see her returning to provide us all with a golf clinic at one of our events.

But to continue with my theme of 2006 and that is to reinforce that county golf is not exclusive but inclusive. There are competitions and events for everyone, so please look out for the 2007 Fixtures Diary which will be available at your clubs in February.

All the events represent excellent value, and remember there are opportunities to enter some competitions with a playing partner.

My vision for Warwickshire over the next year is therefore to build on our success, nurture our young talent and encourage club ladies of all playing abilities to feel a real sense of belonging to Warwickshire by becoming actively involved under the county umbrella.

We are particularly fortunate to have two new members to our committee in Pam Harben (Copt Heath) and Elizabeth Murdoch (Leamington) ? I would particularly like to take this opportunity of welcoming them on board and hope that they enjoy their term of office with us. Bev Belcher of course makes a welcome return to the committee as my Vice Captain, and I know we will both have a lot of fun this year ? as 'little' and 'large' on the fairways.
