The afternoon saw the breeze growing stronger and forever changing direction. Elizabeth MALLETT led the team out unfortunately losing 3/2. Lisa BARTON played a very steady round and after losing to a birdie on the 3rd hole, never looked in any trouble eventually winning 4/3.

Charlotte TAYLOR had a slightly more difficult time but led all the way and finished with an excellent birdie on the difficult 16th to win her match 3/2.

News from around the course was filtering to those watching and we were losing in all the last three matches but what followed was absolutely fabulous. Rachel RUSTED was 4 down with 4 to play. Determined not to give in, Rachel in her own words "played her best golf" to claim a half point for the team.

In reporting on the 5th match out, caddy Val Thomas, wrote "I am a Nuneaton lady and my first time as Caddie for Warks County Lady's team. Sue JONES, who was playing in her first 1st team event was 3 down after the front nine. She was nervous but did not show it and battled back to halve her match with an excellent par on 18th. She was a joy to caddie for and I enjoyed every minute of it."

So everyone was waiting to see what happened in Abbey GITTINGS match. Her caddy for the day wrote; "After 11 holes Abbey was 6 down. The come back started on the 12th hole with a birdie followed by a further one on the 13th (not unlucky for her!!). Wins on 14th 15th 16th and 17th (match now all square. On 18th with her heart racing I said to her 'this moment was made for you.' She halved the 18th with a par to gain a valuable half point for the team and made a 67 hear old caddy from Nuneaton Golf club very Happy".

All this meant Warwickshire gained 5 1/2 points to Buckinghamshire 3 1/2. Team Captain Dottie Beanland said "The fight back was tremendous if not a little nerve racking but the team spirit showed through - they fight very hard for each other".
