Held on Monday 6th September clear winners came through on the day for both of the prestigious cups on offer. 24 teams took part, each consisting of five players each playing an 18 hole medal round counting towards the final team score. This always proves a nerve racking experience for even the most seasoned competitors as no-one wants to "let the team down"! The course proved a difficult test with lush "spring-like" rough causing much trouble, especially adjacent to the greens. This was reflected in the scores and eventually resulted in the competition being for reduction only as the CSS score rose to 73 from the SSS of 70 for the course. As you can imagine, this news was greeted with great relief from those who stayed on for the prize giving! It was Copt Heath who came through on the day producing an all round superb performance. With their team of Sue Westall, Sue Pearse, Angela Dawson, Dottie Beanland and Karen Dodson they won both the Chipman Cup for the Best Gross total (421) and the Daisy Harthill Cup for the Best Nett total (375) and the winners' vouchers. All five players had nett scores in the seventies - a feat not achieved by many other compeititors on the day. As is the custom when the same team wins both Cups, the runners-up in the nett competition receive the nett vouchers - Rugby, with their team of Emma Stodart, Deb Harrad, Sue Jones, Judith Rees and Carol Sheffield with an aggregate score of 386.

Well done to all participating teams and thanks to Hearsall for hosting this most important WLCGA event.
