The afternoon session was aimed at those girls who had just got a handicap or were about to get one.
Ten girls tackled the par 3 Castle course after a teaching session. The best gross winner, Hannah Wollaston, nearly had a hole-in-one, her ball finishing just 10cm from the pin.
The best nett prize for a player with a handicap went to Gemma Heath and Isobel Hogg collected the best non-handicap prize.
There was another notable success for Fiona Bearton, who had stayed on from the morning session, scored her first par, having never been on a golf course before.
The next event for girls to try out golf will be on Monday 27th October at Kenilworth Golf Club, all comers welcome. For more information contact Jane Dennick, chairman of the WLCGA grass-roots development via dennick7@aol.com
