With the models duly practised, albeit extremely nervous about the forthcoming ordeal, the evening began. Dottie Beanland, County Captain opened the proceedings by welcoming everyone and thanking all concerned who had helped in the organisation of this event and then introducing the famous model and socialite 'Olton Hilton' (standing in for her more well known relative - Paris) and welcoming her to the catwalk. Olton had obviously been busy shopping at all the best shops in town that day with Gucci, Prada and Millardes' bags hanging from her arms including, peeping out from her handbag, her constant canine companion 'Kopito' wearing his sparkling diamond collar. From the applause, and, dare I say, the laughter that greeted her, we could tell we would be in for a good evening!
In they came, two by two (or occasionally three) modelling casual golf clothing, supplemented by items from the 2010 collection of golf gear supplied by the Professional, Charles at Olton Golf Club. Over 100 outfits had been chosen by Liz Blake to be paraded, and we were taken through the whole gamut of inexpensive to Special occasion pricing showing Casual, Special event, Wedding (mother of Bride together with Guests), Evening wear right through to a wonderful parade of outfits suitable for a day at Royal Ascot. By this time, the models had really warmed to the situation and looked really at home in their special outfits - hats and all! Difficult to imagine that for the rest of the season they will be in their Warwickshire Golf gear!
The evening drew to a close with the Raffle being drawn by Angela Dawson with a procession of a different kind ensuing - all those lucky ones with the winning tickets coming forward to choose their specific prizes. These had been donated by kind sponsors who included Nevada Bob's, Stuart & Ali Bottrill of Shirley GC Pro Shop, The Warwickshire G&CC, Stoneleigh Deer Park GC and numerous other private donations. We thank you all for your support.
As the event had been put on to raise money for County funds, Angela was delighted to announce that we raised approximately ? 850 on the night. Thank you to all who attended and generously supported us.
