This winter has been difficult for golf clubs and for greens staff in particular. Congratulations to Mr John Harrhy (owner) and his son Nigel (Head Greenkeeper) for getting the course in an excellent condition for this WLCGA competition. As on previous occasions, thanks to Mark Harrhy for all his work behind the scenes with the preparations for the day. Compliments to the catering staff for the delicious refreshments which turned out to be even more tasty to enjoy from the comfort of the restaurant whilst watching the final competitors tackle the island green on a very windy day!

Many thanks to Ladies' Captain, Mary Barnes and her volunteer helpers, Jenny on registration and Val on the ball sweep who all worked very hard to make the event run smoothly. Thanks to the generosity of all the competitors who together raised £ 65.20 for the Warwickshire Junior Girls on the Ball Sweep.

Never have the County had a starter with such style! On the first tee, volunteer starter Keith not only looked immaculate in his pin striped suit and patent leather shoes but sent the ladies on their way with a cheery smile.

At the prizegiving, Dottie Beanland, County Captain, welcomed all the 44 players representing 22 Warwickshire clubs to this Greensome Stableford Winter Alliance Competition. Dottie congratulated the winners, Sharon Plant and Kate Bridgewater on their wonderful score in testing weather conditions which was reflected by only three pairs scoring 30 or more.

PRIZE WINNERS:

Sharon PLANT and Kate BRIDGEWATER of The Warwickshire GC with 36 points

RUNNERS UP:

Yen PHAM and Rachel WATKINSON of Shirley GC with 35 points

Commiserations to the home team players of Lynn Dillon and Ann Brown with 32 points - the only other team to score over 30 - but who sadly didn't get a prize!

We look forward to seeing many of you again at the final Winter Alliance this side the new season: Venue - OLTON GC on Monday 14th MARCH.
