The first match of the season was played on an overcast morning. Jane Jones & Sue Westall halved as did Caroline Lassen & Gill Thorpe with Val Orton & Liz Woolf losing on the 18th.

SUNDAY 18 APRIL: WARWICKSHIRE GIRLS (Moor Hall) - Match LOST: 1 1/2 - 4 1/2

The second match was played in much brighter conditions, but regrettably having a similar result! Caroline Lassen & Mave Mendus won their match and Pauline Lucas & Barbara Malins halved their match

THURSDAY 13 MAY: LEICESTER 1 (Robin Hood) - Match LOST: 6 1/2 - 1 1/2

The match against Leicestershire 1 was played at Robin Hood GC on 13th May 2010, again another bright day. Leicestershire fielded a stong side, however there was a win for Sue Westall & Dottie Beanland and a halved match match for Mave Mendus & Liz Woolf

TUESDAY 18 MAY: OXFORDSHIRE (Burford) - Match WON 5 - 3

A bright sunny day took us to Burford GC with a match against Oxfordshire Ladies and yes we had our first win of the season!! We had a great day with fabulous weather and the course was beautiful.

MONDAY 7 JUNE: DERBYSHIRE (Olton) - Match HALVED 3 1/2 to 3 1/2

The match against Leicestershire was played at Olton GC on Monday 7th June and after monsoon conditions the previous evening, closing the course, conditions were much improved by the time we were due to start. All matches were played in the dry with the match result being a half. Highlight of the day was a 'Hole in One' at the 13th by Del Lakin-Hall.

WEDNESDAY 16 JUNE: LEICESTER 11 (Coventry Hearsall) - Match WON 6 1/2 to 1 1/2

The match against Leicester & Rutland 11 team was played in glorious sunshine and we had a convincing win, which made up for the loss against their 1st Team earlier in the year. Glenda Loram was presented with her Warwickshire Vets Colours on the day.

WEDNESDAY 7 JULY: GLOUCESTERSHIRE (Gloucester Golf & CC) - Match WON 5 to 3

The match against Gloucestershire was played at Gloucester Golf & County Club on Wednesday 7th July. On a bright and blustery day we had a very enjoyable day with spectacular views playing on a very hilly course. Warwickshire came out victorious with a win 5 matches to 3.

The highlight of the day was a Hole in One at the 16th by Val CUSHING.

MONDAY 2 AUGUST: NORTHAMPTONSHIRE (Collingtree Park) - Match WON 5 1/2 to 2 1/2

Fine weather again took us to Collingtree Park GC for our match against Northamptonshire on Monday 2nd August 2010. The course was in good condition, though somewhat difficult the first time of playing with 10 water holes!!! Warwickshire came out Winners 5 1/2 to 2 1/2.

WEDNESDAY 18 AUGUST: WORCESTERSHIRE 11 (Droitwich) - Match LOST 5 1/2 to 2 1/2

Our match against Worcestershire 11 took us to Droitwich G.C. on Wednesday 18th August 2010. The course was in good condition, though still dry and we had our first rain of the season, albeit not enough to spoil our matches. Worcestershire, again fielding a strong side, even though it had been pointed out it was a 2nd Team match, came out the winners 5 1/2 to 2 1/2. There were wins for Caroline Lassen & Kay Parmee, Greta Band & Sheila Kane, with Jane Betts & Jenny Roberts gaining a half.

WEDNESDAY 8 SEPTEMBER: STAFFORDSHIRE (Walmley) - Match HALVED

Yet another bright sunny day took the Warwickshire Vets Team to Walmley Golf Club for the trophy match against Staffordshire, on Wednesday 8th September 2010. The teams were evenly matched and matches played in a friendly but competitive spirit, with the result being 4 matches to 4.

Congratulations to Mary Randon who was awarded her Warwickshire Vets colours.

MONDAY 13 SEPTEMBER: WORCESTERSHIRE 1 (Redditch) - Match LOST 4 1/2 to 3 1/2

Our run of fine weather has come to an end and on Monday 13th September our Trophy match against Worcestershire 1, took us to Redditch Golf Club on a very rainy day.

The match was played in good spirit and there were some very close matches with Worcestershire finally winning by 4 1/2 to 3 1/2. There were wins for Sheila Cardwell (1st match) with Sue Shortt, Sheila Armstrong and Judy Disbury, Angela Allen (1st Match) with Mary Randon and a halved match for Gill Thorpe and Mave Mendus.

Worcestershire retained the Trophy having already beaten Staffordshire. Better luck next year!!!

MONDAY 27 SEPTEMBER: SENIOR MEN (Moor Hall) - MATCH LOST 5 1/2 to 1/2

A very dull, drizzly day took us to Moor Hall Golf Club to play against the Warwickshire Senior men. The conditions did not deter the spirit in which the matches were played but again the men were a little too strong for us Ladies and finished victorious, therefore retaining the Carl Bretherton Cup.

Jane Betts and Gill Thorpe managed a halved match, but the other five matches were lost. We will negotiate for more shots next year!!!

All matches have now been played and I would like to thank all the ladies who have played, for their support throughout the year. It has been a very enjoyable year with great spirit at all matches and I hope that we can all have a good 2011.
