The opening round of the Girls Stableford Series for 2009 took place at Leamington & County on April 15th . Despite early morning thunder and lightning the competition went ahead, finishing in bright sunshine. Scoring was not easy after the rain and a strong wind for the first Warwickshire Girls event of the year.
Jodie Chubb from Sutton Coldfield just edged out Katrina Rook from Hearsall on the back 9 with 35 points. Last year?s series winner Katrina Gani from Shirley finished just one point behind, closely chased by Eve Walker, Wishaw, and Charlotte Hartshorn, Nuneaton. Kyrie Ross-Madden faded a little after a strong front 9 but finished in style with a birdie on the 18th.
Jodie kept up her form to win again at The North Warwickshire on 29th May on a perfect sunny day with 46 points just beating Francesca Palser from Olton by a point. This was a high scoring 3 ball as Amber Macdonald, Coventry Finham, also came in for a prize. Three players from Nuneaton took the silver division prizes, Charlotte Hartshorn piped Hannah-Pearl Wood by a point, scoring 41 and third place went to Hannah Rice.
