Rachel once again started with two birdies in the first two holes, but by the 8th, Liz had drawn level having won on the 6th and 8th and continued with a win on the 9th to go one up. As they say on Television at major championships, it gets harder down the stretch and we wondered which one would keep their nerve!

On the 10th, they both hit good drives with Liz then on the green for two and Rachel for three, both eventually halving the hole in 5. The 11th saw Rachel single putting for 4 and winning the hole - Match all square! Rachel won the next hole with a par and was now one up, whilst at the short par 3, 13th hole they both had up and downs from just off the green for a half.

Two excellent drives off the 14th, albeit with Liz's ball going further up the fairway, were followed with shots to the green and single putts form both. With the wind in their faces on the par 5, 15th, Liz hit a fabulous straight drive, with second shot landing in front of the greenside bunker, eventually finishing with a par. Rachel on the other hand, drove slightly off line and had more difficulty in finding the green in regulation resulting in a six - Match all square. On the 16th, Rachel had problems with her ball landing in a water hazard, leaving Liz to win that hole and thus go one ahead. This was turning into a real match.

Liz's drive on the 17th was long but left, leaving her with a difficult second, which she managed well. Rachel on the other hand, drove straight, albeit slightly shorter. She did have to wait for some time to take her second shot though, as a lady walking her dog on the path crossing the fairway, was quite oblivious to Rachel waiting to take her shot!! Perhaps this made her lose concentration and her pitch shot landed over the green. Liz finally won the hole with a bogie and thus the match by 2 and 1.

What a great afternoon's golf we had witnessed, and Liz is a worthy winner of the 2010 Warwickshire County Championships.
