The day was set fair with perfect playing conditions and some 40 players from 16 Warwickshire clubs participating.

Youngest competitior aged 15, Elizabeth Mallett from Sutton Coldfield Ladies hot off finishing her GCSE exams this week set the pace from the start of play, finishing with a fantastic Gross 72, taking the Gross prize of the day. Her playing partner, Sue Westall gave her a good run for her money with a Gross 76, Nett 70 and took the 2nd Nett prize.

It was some time later that the eventual winner, Val Stene (County Hon Treasurer) from Kenilworth also came in with a Nett 70 and just pipped Sue on a back 9 countback.

In 3rd Nett place also on a countback, was Lynn Pearson from Shirley.

Longest Drive was won by Pat Hale from Edgbaston with Gillian Kettley taking the Nearest the Pin prize.

In her speech Captain Dottie Beanland thanked Olton GC for presenting such a great venue for this tournament, together with thanking all the Olton members for their help during the day.
