48 ladies representing 24 Warwickshire Clubs arrived fully prepared to play in the Greensome Stableford competition kindly hosted by Nuneaton Golf Club. The course was in excellent condition and the autumn colours made it look really stunning - even from the comfort of the Club House!

The band of helpers, ably lead by Ladies' Captain Paula Young, gave everyone a cheerful welcome and Ian Cronin on registration and John Edwards as Starter, sent everyone off to face the challenges that are special to a day of winter golf. The course played long, but this did not deter these competitive ladies. They all tried very hard which is reflected in the closeness of the top nine scores posted.

Jean Nicholls of Nuneaton Golf Club deserves a special mention for the absolutely splendid and original flower arrangement (pictured) she designed especially for this competition. Well done Jean!

Most ladies stayed to enjoy the delicious home made soup from Brian and his team before getting to the interesting part of the proceedings.

This event was a bitter sweet day for Angela Dawson, as it was the final event before Angela retires later in November from her position as the WLCGA President. Sincere thanks to Angela for all the support she has given to the Winter Alliance Competitions. On occasions it must have been hard for Angela to travel significant distances, sometimes in poor weather, to attend the prizegiving.

At the prizegiving, Angela thanked everyone for their good wishes on her retirement and all the people behind the scenes for their hard work. Angela concluded the proceedings by congratulating the prize-winners:

The Winners:

Leamington & County GC - Margaret SHEEPY & Pam LYONS on 37 points

Runners Up:

The Warwickshire GC - Yvonne SUTCLIFFE & Bev COLEMAN on 34 points

Anne Parkes did really well in collecting £ 77 on the ball sweep in aid of the Warwickshire Junior Girls. Sincere thanks to all the competitors for their generosity.

REMINDER: Entries for the Next Winter Alliance at HENLEY GC on SATURDAY 11th December must be in by 27th November!! Don't miss it!
