The pairing of Elizabeth HAYCOCK and Elizabeth MALLETT looked a good bet on paper and my did they come up with a result, winning on the 14th green by 6 and 4.

This proved inspirational to the other two Foursomes matches following behind. Firstly, Claire HOWELLS and Melissa NICHOL had a great battle with their opponents and eventually went 1 up after 15 holes. A Half on the 16th followed by a Par 5 on the long 17th, saw them winning by 2 and 1.

In the last of the morning Foursomes, Lisa BARTON was partnered by Rachel RUSTED. They won 2 up on the last hole, having had a scare by losing the 17th.

So the morning saw Warwickshire with 3 points in the bag and still the sun shone for the afternoon series of matches of 6 singles. First out was Lisa Barton who played good steady golf all afternoon eventually winning by 2 up. Elizabeth MALLETT was next off and her match was up and down all afternoon until she finally lost on the 18th green.

Then came young Charlotte TAYLOR who, after being 1 down at the turn eventually drew level on the 15th. 16th was halved and then she won the 17th and with a further win on the 18th secured a 2 up win.

Rachel RUSTED managed to find several bunkers on the front 9, which by then she was 1 down. After making a fantastic curving putt on the 14th green, she went 2 up and never looked back, finishing with a 2 and 1 win on the 17th.

Melissa NICHOL went 1 up after 7 holes then on the 9th she hit a magnificent 9 iron to 6 ft from the pin, winning the hole. After pars on the 13th and 14th she was 4 up finishing on the 15th when she had a birdee - 5 and 3. What a great start in her first match in Warwickshire colours.

Liz HAYCOCK went one better with a 6 and 4 win, playing flawless golf and having 4 birdies in her round.
