Phil is 54, a golfer since 1989 and a member of Rugby Golf Club since 1998. Over the last decade he has been part of the club management at Rugby (Club Captain in 2010) and in 2005 and 2010 Phil was sponsored to complete two EGU Rules Training Courses to become a full accredited Matchplay and Strokeplay Referee.

From its start in 1970, the aim of the scheme was to give its members the opportunity to play affiliated courses, in competition with other members twice a year.

The original format was Pairs Foursomes - in the last six years the format was changed to Four Ball Better Ball - Stableford competition with around 60 pairs entering each event.

The Spring and Autumn Meetings are the counties only handicap competitions and both have trophies to be played for.

The two prestigious trophies were donated by Vice Presidents of the Union in the 70's.

Vice Presidents Bowl:

The Vice Presidents Bowl was presented by all County Vice Presidents of the day. What is unique is the trophy has the signatures of the Vice Presidents inscribed onto it.

The winning pair of the Spring Meeting receives this trophy to take back to their Golf Club for that year.

Jack Urry Cup:

The Jack Urry Cup was presented by the Vice President himself Jack Urry.

Jack was a notable person in the Counties history and not only served Warwickshire for many year - he was a President of the English Golf Union.

The winning pair of the Autumn Meeting receives this trophy to take back to their Golf Club. Prizes in both events will be presented in the form of Vouchers to be spent within your clubs Pro Shop.

New for 2012

The winners of each competition will be also awarded a memento to keep.

Results will be displayed on the county websites with a short report and photographs of the winning pair

'I have now taken on the role of County Membership Scheme Coordinator. I will work tirelessly to enhance the scheme, for existing and new members, enabling them to play in at least two events every year.

'The County prides itself in promoting golf in the region for all golfers.

'If you would like to be part of it as a club golfer, this scheme maybe for you.

'If you are a current Life Member and have not yet experienced either meeting, why don't you enter and bring a new member?'
