Maxstoke will go to Stoke Park (the old Stoke Poges) in early September and Maxstoke team Captain Antony Gascoigne has had experience of the Finals a number of times before -

'We have qualified before four times in a row, up until three years ago. I went one time with Sam (Walker) and Tom (Whitehouse). We came third that year, in 1997

'How difficult it is depends on the course and obviously the quality of the teams playing, but its always tough to win.

'Hopefully we will have our best team - Ben (Stafford) and Rob (Browning) should be OK and I will do my best to be able to play. If one player wasn't available, we could of course go for Ben Senior but he finds it difficult to get weekdays off and the first round is on the Friday.'

The Mens Club Team Championship is a gross competition. The Boys Club Team Championship is now nett so the winning team from the Centenary Boys Championship can now be won by higher handicap golfers. Do make sure that your club has at least one team in the Boys Championships. They need to be entered as individuals before they can play in the Championships itself.

Last year saw mixed results for our 1st and 2nd Teams. Features are posted on this site about both matches but for those who don't have regular access to the web, why not download a special poster giving the score details?

Its available in PDF form so download and print it for your club notice board.
