Gidney was chased home by Wiltshire's Ben Loughry who finished with two rounds in the 60s in the four round championship, Gidney finishing on 272 (-8).

Rob's third round was his best of the four, a 67. Birdies on the 2nd, 4th, 8th, 11th, 13th and 16th were countered by three bogies. In the final round, Rob had chances but made a number of crucial par-saving putts so his two birdies and two bogies all added up to a 70.

Third place gave Rob a good voucher and a lot of credibility, as he missed the entry date for the English Amateur and therefore cannot shine there. He will be an important member of the County 1sts as they seek to recover from last week's loss in the hunt for the Midland League title.
