Stranks & Jenkins are both County Squad members, and they played solid golf to beat Young and Woolerton from Stoneleigh. Responding to Stranks's concerns, it was some spectacular golf from Rory Kirwan and Nicky Jenkins that swung the match to the home team.
Having birdied the 3rd, then the 6th (from some distance - and a putt which was followed in by the superb touch of Stoneleigh Captain Neville Gardner), Kirwan and Jenkins kept themselves in the match with what they described as a 'filthy' up-and-down on the 12th.
They won the 14th and then the 16th with a birdie, and were conceded the 17th to complete their come-back 2&1.
That left Wollerton and Smith from Stoneleigh out on the course, now all square with Tibbatts and Cooper from The Warwickshire and playing the 17th. It was again another high quality match, which both sides agreed to halve, now the cup was staying in the The Warwickshire's Trophy Cabinet.
The statistics will show that that half point was the only one conceded by the champions as they beat Kenilworth (at home) then had two away victories against past Cup winners Copt Heath and in the semis Maxstoke Park.
In the earlier rounds Elliott James and Simon Franklin both played their part for The Warwickshire.
'We've never been to the final before', said Stoneleigh Captain Ron Edmonson, 'But we have good players and now they are playing together more and more.'
Stoneleigh's highlights were beating Shirley and then Coventry Hearsall, the later match completed by two close wins after their No 1 pairing had lost 8&7.
Prizes were presented by The Warwickshire Captain Chris Knowles.
It was also the last appearance in County Golf for Rory Kirwan, as Rory turns pro at the end of the month - good luck in your new career.
