Seniors Captain Update

A few months ago I was asked if I would like to Captain the Warwickshire Seniors Team for the next 2 years. Of course I would !

I feel privileged, delighted and honoured to have been elected as Captain, the role I took over a few weeks ago at the end of year dinner.

I have played Junior and First Team County golf in the past and always found it truly rewarding. However, the last 8 years playing for the Senior Team have not disappointed and I have particularly enjoyed the spirit in which the games are played, the camaraderie and the fact that you make so many good friends.

I must thank our outgoing Captain, David Middleton from Ladbrook Park Golf Club, who has had 2 extremely successful years. David has worked tirelessly behind the scenes and has also been a star many times on the golf course. He seems to have the ability to come back from 3 down with 5 to play on a regular basis!

Congratulations David.

I have noticed over the latter years that the competition has got stronger. However, the Warwickshire team has always had great support from its long-standing players and I hope they are all fit and ready for next year's battles! I would like to thank those who have sent me messages of support - they are much appreciated.

I am at present setting up a new database of all Warwickshire golfers who would be eligible to play (6 handicap or less and aged 55 or over) so if there is anyone out there who would like to be considered please let me know. The Trials this year will be on 18th April at Robin Hood Golf Club.

Once all the fixtures are arranged (which should not be too long now) I will post them on this website and hope to keep it updated with results and any interesting facts about the matches.

So, wishing everyone a good Christmas and a happy and successful golfing year
