PLAYER PROFILES

Andy Sullivan

2008's Grand Slam winner and dedicated county supporter looks set for a good year after being included in the England Elite Squad. He remains the benchmark for others in the county to aspire to. We wish him all the best in his quest to qualify for the Walker Cup in America later this year.

Paul Randle

Paul turned pro after winning the Amateur and Open in 2005 and has only recently returned to county golf. An experienced player at a high level, his attitude epitomises the correct approach to county golf.

Sam Foster

Sam will be a key player for the first team this year. A gritty competitor with a strong singles record, I expect Sam will continue to develop his skills in 2009..

Bill Nicolson

Bill is hoping to renew his association with county golf after a year dogged by health problems. Bill has played over 100 matches for the county, most at first team level and has a reputation as a fearsome competitor. We look forward to seeing him back to full fitness in 2009.

Ian Stranks

The 'pocket battleship' brings maturity and experience to the county side. Again, a first team regular, he is hard to beat and recently led his home club The Warwickshire to another success in the Warwickshire Cup.

Gareth Jenkins

Gareth recently handed over the first team reins to Louis Meryon but maintains his links with the county development by accepting the newly created role of coaching manager. His experience will be vital in helping the best players in the county reach their potential.

Gareth has a foot operation planned for early in the season and we wish him well in his recovery.

Sam Dodds

Last years Midland Closed champion will play a key role in the success of the first team this year. Sam is a hard worker who no doubt will experience both individual and team success in 2009.

Rob Browning

Rob has experienced several top finishes in the county's best events and is a key player in the side. A gritty scrapper who is seldom beaten in his singles, he is likely to be adding to his points tally this season.

Tom Ibbertson

Whilst still at boys level Tom has shown the maturity and ability to compete at a higher level. He makes his 1st team debut against Leicestershire on the 29th March and no doubt will continue to represent the county at a high level over the coming seasons.

Dale Marson

Dale has a strong record in county golf and remains a solid member of the side. He plays with a mature attitude and is likely to feature strongly in the major events this season.

Fred Jewsbury

The current Ladbrook Park course record holder has flirted between first and second team golf over the last few seasons. Now an established plus handicap golfer he is likely to continue to make his presence felt both at individual and team level.

James Smith

James has been one of the best young upcoming players in the county over the last two years and is now a first team regular. We look forward to watching James' progress as he tests himself at a higher level in individual amateur golf.

Chris Dougill

Chris is currently on a golf scholarship in America but will play a part in Team Warwickshire in 2009. He has access to excellent facilities in the US and hopefully will be able to share his experiences with the side when he returns in May.

Dave Westwood

Dave has a long history of playing county golf both at first and second team level. His experience and attitude will no doubt be vital to helping us achieve our goals in 2009.
