Birdie the 2nd and 4th (and have a bogey on the 3rd)

Birdie three-in-a-row from the 9th to the 11th

Finish it off with one more red number at the 18th

Miss the first par five green with your approach - chip and putt after a lesson from Mark Mouland

Hole from 25ft after a wedge approach at the third - hole from 8ft at the next

Two putt the par five 10th after a 9 iron approach then down a 30 footer at the next

Draw a 6 iron to 15ft on the 17th, the most difficult hole on the course - and finish with a wedge to 6ft.

Both face the expense of the trip to Scotland to now try and take on Tour Pros of all levels for just 12 places left in the 2010 Open, to be played over the links of St Andrews - and for new clubs as they must now play with the same grooves as the professional game adopted for this year onwards.

They could give lessons - but oh no they can't as they are both still amateurs, the players who showed the Pros how to do it ...
