Graham has though had two special one-off projects that took both his commitment, and that of the Officers of the Union, to bring to the highest level of success.
Our Centenary, in 2006, was near a decade in planning and for his first two years in position, Graham was the final stage manager of all the events, the publications, and the coordinator of our reaching the finals of the English County Championships.
Just two year later, and Graham was then the focal point for the work on the Incorporation of the Union, to its now Limited Company status.
Other highlights were Graham's work in developing the Championships Committee, and the introduction of technology to the one laborious process of collating scores from cards into instant results sheets and the presentations we now enjoy year on year on a huge scoreboard.
On a personal note, Graham did enjoy watching his son David, playing for the 1sts team on numerous occasions.
'I wish to thank, on behalf of us all, Graham and Glenda for their contribution to the Union over the past seven years', said WU president John Powell, ' I hope they enjoy their additional time that retirement brings but they have not said 'goodbye' completely as Graham has said he will support the Championships and Course Assessment work of the Union.'
As County Secretary, Graham never managed to play his own golf as much as he would have liked. He has just joined Copt Heath and you can expect his handicap to come tumbling down - that is if Glenda doesn't have too many other plans!
He will be missed but his smiling face is sure to pop up now and then. Good Luck Graham and Glenda!
