The day started badly as Nathan opened proceedings by feeling a sharp pain in his shoulder in hitting the opening drive. He carried on bravely, but finally had to concede on the 14th.

George and Rob had everything well under control and were still 2 up with 4 to play. They were still one up in the better position after two shots on the par 5 18th, but somehow managed to walk off with half a point!

Mike and Max, our dynamic duo made short work of their opponents and Louie and Adam were always comfortable, but Alex and Toby were struggling at 3 down.

Somehow they managed to get to all square on the 18th tee, but all looked lost as they stumbled down the last only to hole a tricky 8 footer to secure the half point. 3-2 to Warwickshire.

The advantage was soon given up as Nathan, having taken pain killers and determined to lead from the front, thinned a shot to the third and could not go on. Ironically, he was 2 up at that point! Now it was a straight match of 9 per side and all looked well as after 7 holes we were up in 6 and level in one , though the bottom two were struggling.

Mike and George went on to win comfortably, but Daanyal, having hit the best drive of the day down nine, looked to be going 3 up. However, when he got there, the lie was near unplayable and resulted in a loss.

A birdie by Worcs at 10 and everything seemed to turn against him and a loss at 18 resulted.

Max played superbly against Houdini's grandson and finally saw his opponent hole a very good putt on 18 to halve the match.

Adam was going well till struck very hard by an errant drive from a member and lost a 3 hole lead while he recovered, then got back to dormie one only to make a mistake on the 18th green to halve a match we should have won.

Louie, meanwhile, was quietly steaming along as usual to take his match 3/2.

With the last two matches, by now, lost causes and the match 7 points each, we looked to Robert Owens, who had been one down from the 7th hole. He took advantage of his opponent's mistake on the difficult par 3 14th and won 16 with a brilliant 4 from out of the trees at 16 to go one up.

A half at 17 meant that all went down to the last hole. Robert's drive caused him to play the hole down the wrong fairway while his opponent went from bunker to bunker. The opposition failed to hole his putt for a par 5, leaving Rob a chip and 2 putts to win. His chip finished inches away.

After his manful performance with a horrible cold at the 4 Counties, Rob Owens was Warwickshire's hero once more!

8-7 to Warwickshire!
