He will be playing PING golfer clubs, be dressed in Lyle and Scott, wear FootJoy shoes and be playing Titliest golf balls, all under the management of Brendan Taylor from Wasserman (another feature to come this week).

After Austria, Andy has a place in the Dunhill Links. He then heads to Dubai, to play in a mini-tour where a top finish will give him starts in all three of the 'Desert Swing' European Tour events next February. Its then back to Spain for Stage II of Tour School - that is unless he hasn?t done something very special in the next 14 days ?

Andy's Amateur career is finished - winning everything in Warwickshire Golf (including double triples), doing the same bar the Midland Boys at Regional level, England Caps and Home International triumphs, National Amateur Championships from across the World (and travelling more than 50 000 miles in the last year alone) - and a career high of being No 5 Amateur in the World.

It all culminated in five days, two in competition; playing in the victorious Walker Cup Team just a few days ago, up at Royal Aberdeen -

'I don't remember much from the last day - The Team won and that's all I was buzzing on.'

'In the Team Room on the Sunday the skipper told us 'You haven't won anything yet' - but we were calm and under control.'

'We were always a team - the spirit was awesome. That was why we won 6 ? out of 8 points in the foursomes.'

'It was just a joke after we won and were back in the Team room. We had three crates of champagne, just us. We were supposed to be t a dinner for 7.30. We got there at 9!'

And what about Andy's 'best bits' of his Amateur career -

'My favourite memory is that first tee shot in the Walker Cup, all those people standing there cheering you on. It was worth the wait!'

'My worst memory - I can't really tell you.'

'My favourite playing partner was Jack (Senior - main picture and larger version with this feature). When things were going wrong he was good, very good. When things were going great, he was even better.'

'The moment that changed my life was what Lee Westwood said, saying what he did when I went to play a round with him. He told me I was good enough and that re-ignited my amateur career. He changed my final two years, my outlook.'

'My three worst mistakes -

3) A few weeks ago in the Czech Republic - going for the last green and making a double

2) All the closing dates for competitions I missed - through being a lazy bastard

1) A putting lesson from a 'guru'

As for the best advice I could give a good golfer - that's simple. Just do what's best for you, not what's best for someone else.

'Don't just do what your mates want to do. If they are real mates, they will be mates after. You have to look out for No 1!'
