The Boys Trials is a ‘must try to enter’ for any Junior wanting to be considered for the three Boys teams or for County Coaching. Its at Ingon Manor on 31st March. Please note that on-line entry is available, including (if you have or get a GSA number) paying for your entry via the web site – no postage or completing entry forms by hand needed – and that all entries should be returned to Graham Hayes, the prospective new County Secretary, and NOT to John Stubbings.
The U11s is later on in the year, on 16th August at Marston Lakes Hotel and Golf Club. With both the WU and the WLCGA looking for the ‘stars’ of the future as children start paying golf, if you know of someone who as under 11 on 31st August 2004 (the start of School year 0405), get them an entry form. It’s a competition open to anyone who has the basic skills of the game.
Andy Kearns has said that he see retaining the Midland League title as being the sign of a team being a very good one. Everyone would like to see the team qualify for County Finals once again and that is a prime objective behind all the prepartions that are well under way for 2005. Eighteen players who are part of the Squads for the 1sts and 2nds Teams were at Stratford Oaks GC for a short game and fitness training session – a full feature is now on this site.
The updated draw for the Warwickshire Cup is also now available. Its in PDF form so it can be printed off for display on Club Noticeboards. There were a few surprises in the Last 16.
Look out for ‘2005 Bear’ for all the entry form details throughout this site.
And there are 15 new editorial Features in the main ‘FEATURES’ section this week with more to come as well as twice weekly previews and review of European Tour events from Reuters.
For the response from the EGU and ELGA to the four year grants from Sport England (as a follow up to the news we announced last week) – look out for that feature
