New Boys Captain Andy Sullivan will be working with John Simpson on the foursomes pairings for what is sure to be a very competitive match – Alan Benson (Notts Junior Manager) has already said he is ‘looking forward to “revenge”’.

The full team will be Andy Sullivan, Rob Browning, Dale Marson, Neil Taylor, Chris Doughill, Andy Evans, Jack Sant, Steve Mumford, Alistair Wilkinson, Rory Kirwan, ben Bernamont, John Banbury.

John Simpson is part of the new Junior Management team which will be under the leadership of John Jewsbury, subject to the approval of the Union AGM on March 17th. In looking after the Boys Team, John (Simpson) will be joined by Phil Burgess (Olton).

Dick Ferry has undertaken to develop the Club Liaison committees and to manage the off-season Coaching whilst Anthony Gascoigne will be looking after the U16s and U14s teams, so vital in ensuring a progression of younger golfers to the success Warwickshire players have had throughout its 99 years.

At the AGM, representatives from each club in Warwickshire are able to attend and are asked to approve the appointment of officials to continue all the activities of the Union. Like any Annual General Meeting, there are reviews of what has gone on before and outlines of plans for the coming year. 2005 will be extra special as President Jim Dean will be able to add more to the plans for our Centenary in 2006. We hope to have a feature with Jim on all the behind the scenes work that has gone into ensuring that next year will be extra special and one in which any club golfer can be involved with in some form.

Sunday 13th March will see most of the 1st and 2nd team squads gather at the De Vere Belfry to play in the annual County Squad Meeting. This will be the culmination of the coaching sessions and the previous squad work throughout the Winter (as reported on two weeks ago). The matches against Northants will be at Coventry and Northampton Golf Clubs and support will be very welcome.

The closing date for the Boys Trials is the 18th March and places are limited to if a player qualifies, they should enter as soon as possible. Entry forms are available on this site or Juniors can use the on-line entry system. Entry for the Schools closes a few days later and whilst the competition is open to more players, the field size is also limited.
