Players enjoying golfing breaks on Spain's illustrious Mediterranean Golf Coast in Costa Brava at that time will also be able to enjoy the nine-day festival that has now been held for more than half a century.

Every corner of the old quarter of Girona will be bathed in beautiful, fragrantly scented flowers, and feature wonderfully artistic floral decorations and motifs sculpted into all shapes and sizes, many crafted by local artists.

Many private gardens and public buildings of the ancient Old City of Girona, part of the Costa Brava region, will be showing off arrangements - and among the 'must-sees' the Romanesque Cathedral, the Church of Sant Feliu, the picturesque Art Museum garden, the Jewish Quarter, the Arabic Baths and the Onyar river.

Streets, monuments, private patios and even birdcages will also be home to a dazzling array of clever and inventive displays as homes and businesses, including shops, revel in the spirit of the festival in their own unique ways. Aside from the magnificent displays, a host of art exhibitions and mainly outdoor concerts will add the garden party-style atmosphere.

Located an hour north of Barcelona and easily accessible thanks to Girona-Costa Brava Airport - an important Ryanair hub - the region is home to many prestigious golf resorts and other attractions, Michelin-starred restaurants and a wide range of comfortable accommodation.

Visitors looking to combine a visit to the Temps de Flors with a round of golf are spoilt for choice with many exceptional courses in Costa Brava.

These include PGA Golf Catalunya Resort, ranked a World Top 100 Course and a Spanish Open venue; Club Golf d'Aro Mas Nou that is set in beautiful parkland; Club de Golf Costa Brava that offers a challenging, British-designed course; Golf Girona with its wonderfully maintained layout; Torremirona Golf Club that enjoys wonderful views over the Pyrenees; and Club de Golf Peralada Golf Club whose course presents a good test for players of all standards; for those looking for a quick round, the Gualta par-3 course is ideal.

Jaume Mar?n, Director of Marketing at Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona, said: 'What started out in the mid-1900s as a small flower festival has subsequently blossomed in stature, drawing huge numbers of visitors from all over the world, including many enjoying golfing breaks on the celebrated Mediterranean Golf Coast.'

'Last year's festival was one of the best-attended ever, with visitors enjoying a true flavour of Costa Brava's rich heritage - not only by browsing the Temps de Flors but by sampling the region's gastronomic wonders and enjoying the many outdoor activities on offer. We are confident the 2011 event will prove just as popular with tourists.'

Costa Brava also provides visitors with a wide variety of accommodation, from luxurious hotels to farmhouses. Among these are the four-star Hotel Carlemany in Girona located in the city centre, the four-star Hotel Aigua Blava in Begur located in an idyllic cove setting, and the three-star, Hotel Alga in Calella de Palafrugell, very close to the beach.

Food connoisseurs can enjoy authentic Catalan cuisine from Spain's highest concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants including the highly esteemed three Michelin-star El Celler de Can Roca in Girona - ranked 2nd in Restaurant Magazine?s World Top 50 - and Els Tinars in Santa Christina d'Aro.
