As for Jenkins, he manages virtually all the Junior golf (and adult) development across the Midlands. After today's round of 70 (and 38 stableford points) anyone who wants to see how its done just needs to hand him a club.
Hayes was away the fastest and held a huge lead after seven, being four under after Sutton's three par fives in a row. Jenkins had made only one birdie on that sequence before dropping three shots in the next four however a two under Back 9 and dropped shots from Hayes and they shared the lead in the Trials.
These two leaders played at the start of the field. No-one else came very close to challenging their position. Some had the excuse of a very late night celebrating a fellow golfer's 21st Birthday. Others will now play full-time on the Amateur circuit, players such as Chris Dougill who has finished his US University education.
Dougill posted a level par 72, playing off a CONGU handicap of 1. His US handicap was +4 so he will have plenty of opportunity for lowering his UK version. Dougill was joined on 36 points by Rob Browning and Handsworth's Karl Smith, both of who featured in last year's successful Warwickshire 1sts Team.
From the 2nds, who won all their matches, Shaun Young was the best scorer with 34 points, one behind Dale Marson and one ahead of a newly dedicated to golf Jack Sant, as ever pretty immaculate from tee to green but unable to hole a putt.
