Andy Sullivan
Where do I start- with enough county gold medals to set up his own smelting business, Andy's eventual goals lie a long way away from county golf. It is surely only a matter of time before he joins and excels in the paid ranks and hopefully he will look back fondly on his county golf grounding as a factor in his success.
Unusually popular for one so dominant, his commitment to the cause is admirable - if I had 10 Andy's in my side, I could spend many a 'first Sunday in the month' enjoying a large Baileys and cherryade rather than biting my nails on the fairways!
Jack Sant
Uber-talented and with biceps big enough to arm-wrestle Zeus, Jack has recently returned to county golf and his power packed game will certainly make him an asset to our side. Playing full time and dedicated to improvement I will be surprised should Jack fail to fulfill his undoubted potential.
Gareth Jenkins-(coaching manager)
Despite running the coaching program for our best players as well as our undeveloped juniors, Gareth still spares enough time to maintain a plus handicap and will no doubt prove to be a valuable asset in our matches this season.
David Hayes
Despite having a brain bigger than his head David manages to juggle a 70 hour a week city job with a plus three handicap. Oxford educated David has not let the fact that he is the son of 11 handicap county secretary Graham Hayes hold him back and his considerable life and top level matchplay experience will be a valuable asset to our challenge this year.
James Smith
James has established himself as a first team regular over the last few years. His sharp short game and successful partnership with Dale Marson have helped to secure many points for the bears.
Dale Marson
Having successfully made the step from boys golf to the first team over the last couple of years Dale has contributed strongly to our points tally. Flexible enough to play in any position in the order I expect him to combine team and individual success in 2010.
Fred Jewsbury
Fast improving and with a wonderful ability to shoot very low scores, Fred?s Midland OOM results in 2009 outlined that he is a player going places fast. With a rare ability to completely outclass opponents Fred makes his 6's debut this year. I look forward to seeing his developing course management skills transpose into low scores at Lingdale and in many individual events in 2010.
Sam Dodds
Never afraid of testing himself against the very best nationally, Sam has travelled widely in order to achieve success on the fairways. A quiet character with a deep drive for success, his dedication and technical excellence will no doubt help him add to his excellent repertoire of individual honours. Returning to our 6's side I look forward to seeing him post a pair of red numbers come the middle of June.
Rob Browning
Often temperamental and with GCSEs in grumbling and knocking in 20 footers, Rob has a passionate attitude to county golf. Never one for doing things by the book, his drive for success is unrivalled and he will form a vital cog in our 6's side. A regular on the Coventry nightclub scene, he assures me that the first Saturday of the month will be spent drinking cocoa in his bunk-bed.
Karl Smith
All the best teams have a correct blend of youth and experience. Karl's experience will be invaluable to helping us develop a winning mentality this year following a successful 2009 where he was one of the top point scorers. Versatile and flexible, Karl is capable of both nurturing younger players as well as 'babysitting' the Wizard - his long term foursome partner.
Ian Stranks
Equally capable of getting up and down out of awkward situations as he is at fitting competitively priced kitchens, without Ian's excellence at scrambling we might not have had our hands on the Midland League trophy last year. An ever useful anchor man, his longevity on the county scene stands as an example to the younger players who might be tempted prematurely into the pro ranks.
Tom Ibbertson
Fast maturing and supremely dedicated, Tom is a player who has his destiny in his own hands. Recently crowned as Midland Schools Champion, Tom has plied his trade as far away as Abu Dhabi in his quest for individual success. Versatile with potential partners and always focused, I look forward to seeing him produce some quality results both at county and individual level in 2010.
Chris Dougill
Former US college graduate Chris has improved immeasurably over the last 12 months and now plays a key role in our success. A regular winner in 2009, and if he can control his urge to get rather thirsty at weekends he is likely to add personal and teams honours this season.
Richard Oddy
Making his Warks debut in 2009, last season was a brisk introduction to Midlands golf for Richard. His participation in the 6's in his first season shows how highly we regard him and with a high class attitude and fast improving game I expect him to be a major contributor of points to Team Warwickshire this season.
Louis Meryon -(captain)
With fairways-hit stats at just under 7% I intend to take a non-playing role in this season's campaign due to the impending arrival of Baby Meryon and other work commitments. Or to be honest, everyone else is just better than me. I look forward to watching my team mates' enthusiastic impressions of someone else's swing in my absence.
Dave Westwood -(vice captain)
I appointed Dave as Vice just before we went to Spain in March and he has fitted into the role admirably. Not only does he have a quality game but a mature attitude that I'm sure will benefit the younger players in the squad. He makes his debut in the 6's this year and his steadiness and razor sharp short game will no doubt stand him in good stead as he maintains his reputation as Warwickshire's 'Wizard'.
