Bromers is a former Bainbridge winner with Sam Foster and so they make a dream pairing. Despite lots of change in his life this year (new job, new father and little time to play golf), James has given his all for the county as always.
Despite having a better than 50% points ratio this season I suspect James will feel that he can improve on that.
Providing he does more holing of putts and less tree felling with his putter next season I am sure that he will make a strong challenge in the Order of Merit next season.
Elliot Forbes (Kenilworth)
Played 4 matches
Foursomes won all 4 matches
Singles won all 4 matches
Elliot has been one of the finds of the season for the seconds. He has won all his matches and has rapidly gained a reputation as one of the best putters seen by everyone who plays with him.
Not only does Elliot possess a putting stroke to die for, he also is a quality ball striker. Needs to get a better internet connection sorted in his university though!
Harry Ibbertson (Coventry Hearsall)
Played 4 matches
Foursomes won 3 matches, lost 1 match
Singles won 2 matches, lost 2 matches
One of the infamous Ibbertson twins, Harry tells me that he is the better looking of the two! Haz is a methodical player but he can be relied upon to give 100% all the time on the golf course.
He has developed into another strong member of the second team and his good play was recognised when he was selected to represent English Schools. I can see Harry being a rock for Warwickshire golf for many years to come. A tip for future captains - tell Haz he is a slow player following his foursomes match and he will go out and win his singles game at a canter!
Neville Gardner (Stoneleigh Deer Park)
Played 2 matches
Foursomes won 1 match, lost 1 match
Singles won 2 matches
What can I say about this bloke (i.e. me)? Nice guy, quality golfer, senior member of the squad who lifts everyone's spirits when he's about.
He is demanding of himself (sometimes too much so) and expects nothing less than 100% from his players. A stalwart of county seconds golf for more than 10 years now and has a terrific record. Also good at picking up the tab at stopovers!
