As ever The Warwickshire Golf Club were wonderful hosts for the final of the competition which keeps our Counties best players competing through the Winter months, but warms Spring like conditions were a far cry from the snow and cold which bedeviled the early rounds.

Coventry sent out their Warwickshire 1sts team pair of 'youngsters' Sam Dodd and Rob Browning. The faced fellow 1st teamer Fred Jewsbury and his partner Tim Davies and having been three up early on, Coventry were pegged back to all square after 15. They responded perfectly birdying the long 16th and then the 17th to take the match 2&1

In Match 3 it was Nick Jenkins and Dale Middleton for Coventry vs Andy Colley and Chris Freeman for Ladbrook. For all the Ladbrook efforts, Coventry were ahead for most of the match and eventually won on the 16th by 3&2.

That left Coventry Pair 2 of David Hayes and Richard Oddy out on the course playing Ross Anderson and Aaron Brown. Coventry were one up after 17 but agreed to a half, leaving the final score 2 1/2 to 1/2 to the defending champions.

A quick look at the history of the Warwickshire Cup shows that if Coventry make it past the first round, they are very hard to beat and so they proved this year.
