Olton's Robert Tovey showed his recent form was continuing when he took the first round lead with a level par 72. Ingon is a very good test, offering plenty of birdie opportunities and an equal number of holes where bogeys are difficult to avoid. Its greens provided too tricky for many and Tovey shot 83 to be second best Olton player on the day, three shots back from one of the favorites Michael Pell who could not do the double of Schools and Boys titles after rounds of 77 and 75.

Another 'name' could only be one shot better than Pell as Daanyal Spalding managed rounds of 76 then 75 to take the U16s again, but not the Boys - this year.

Louie Pett carded a 73 in R1 but he took 76 in R2 to tie the Runner up score and guarantee Coventry the Coventry Evening Telegraph Boys Trophy after his compatriot Ben Goodison produced to 75s for fifth place.

That left four players to contend and one never got over his quadruple bogey 8 on just his 5th hole of the day - George Allen. His two 75s were a very good performance after that start, including another quad (a 9 on a par five in the second round), and gave George a place in next week's Boys Matchplay.

Third place eventually went to Rob Owens. Rob wasn't playing on the same side of the course as the eventual winner and runner-up so he could only push his score along as best he could. His finishing 74 was four shots too many.

Nathan Ray was however watching the leader (playing in the same three ball) and trying to follow him, and until the 34th and 35th holes he was very much in contention. Nathan didn't make many putts all day but he did make two double bogies on his 16th and 17th holes in his final round, for another 74.

Adam and Nathan played the back nine first in their pm round and it was birdies on the 12th, 15th, 16th and then the 2nd that pushed Adam into a lead he would not relinquish, even with an error at his 35th. He parred the last to post the only sub par round on the day, a 71, for his first Warwickshire title.
