JIMENEZ SETS NEW COURSE RECORD AT HACIENDA
Ryder Cup star Miguel Angel Jimenez set a course record at the superb new championship golf resort in Spain which he will be representing. The world number 23 shot a five-under-par 67 over the 7,300-yard Dave Thomas-designed Hacienda del Alamo, in Murcia, in a round that included seven birdies.

After his record-breaking round, Jimenez described the course as "superb - a real tester".

He said: "There will be major tournaments played on this course, of this I am sure."

In a three-year deal, the flamboyant Jimenez has signed to be the tour ambassador for Hacienda del Alamo, carrying its name and logo on his bag.

"It's a very beautiful spot, with superb views all around and I am sure this is going to be a very popular place for people to come to," added Jimenez.

"I am delighted to be associated with it and carry the name. As a Spaniard, I feel it is very important for resorts like this to have an ambassador from this country."

Haciendaıs director of golf, Billy Sim, said: "This resort is the best-kept secret in Spain and itıs about to burst on to the world golf stage.

"We are very proud to have someone of Miguel Angelıs calibre to represent us. Hacienda is a rather special place - we are offering people the chance to own a property in a very pleasant and secure environment with the added attraction of one of the best new golf courses in the world on their doorstep."

The course is the first of two to be built on the ı600m up-market resort, which is built on 550 hectares near the town of Fuente Alamo. There are currently 550 villas built and sold, along with a golf academy and practice course. A further 3,500 villas and a five-star-hotel and spa, luxury apartments, restaurants and bars are also under construction.
