The 2005 Team Championships
Held at Stratford-on-Avon GC on Monday 5th September 2005. The sun cleared away the clouds at lunch as the first finishers from the 115 players came back to the clubhouse for this most friendly, but tense championship in the WLCGA Calendar. In teams of five, each of the 23 clubs would not know their final gross or nett position until the very last cards were in - as all scores counted.

The full results are available in County Ladies | Team Competitions | InterClubTeam | Scores

SSS is 72 for Stratford but the CSS was 73 for the Team Championships

There have been nearly 30 photos added to the gallery for this part of the WLCGA site - in the same section but under 'Pictures' - look out for your team or some individuals and pictures from the prize giving.

For the home club Stratford, it was a day of 'nearlies' as they lost the gross and the nett by two shots in both competitions.

The Gross went to Copt Heath with 416 - Stratford second on 418 and Coventry third on 427

The Nett (The 'ear-rings' trophy, the Daisy Harthill - one of the most impressive in County Golf!) went to Coventry on 378 with Ladbrook on 379 and Stratford on 380.

Thanks went to all concerned with running the day, notably Ileen Fisher coming to the end of her three year stint as Competitions and Championships Secretary, to Stratford for their support for the Championships, and to all the caddies who came along to help out their fellow team members.

There was also the draw for the Inter Club leagues for the next season - news to follow.

A little should be said about the best scores on the day - as they did not win prizes for their solo achievements.

Hannah Coles, fresh from a break in golf and armed with a new driver, had four birdies (three on par fives) in shooting a 71, nett 66 - the best gross and nett on the day, Hannah loves Stratford having shot a 72 to win the Girls last year.

Claire Dowling was one shot worse for the gross (72 - still -1 to par) with a round which included two '2's.

In only her third medal round of the year, Anne Parry played almost par golf for a 74 - 'I should play more often' said Anne after her round.

It was a fabulous way to end the golfing season (nearly - the Inter Club final is next week at the Welcombe) - hope you have enjoyed your year,
