Last year's Open Champion Craig Phillips is paired with this year's Amateur Champion Paul Randle who showed some impressive golf for much of his last match for the County just ast week. Paul will alos be concentrating on this chances to win the TP Cooke Salver for the best 72 hole score in the Open and Amateur but his main rival will be Louis Meryon, Amateur Runner-up, who returns to the County scene after a back injury in the middle of the Summer.
2003 Champion Adrian Carey will be able to keep an eye on how Phillips and Randle are doing as he plays behind that pairing whilst Meryon will be in the company of home Pro Danny Boyer.
The Amateur was decided by just a few shots so the likes of Anthony Gascoigne, Stuart Yates, Rob Browning and Rob Steele will all be very much part of the mix for the TP Cooke, as will be the Juniors in Mark Massey, John Paul Banbury, Neil Taylor and the in-form Mark Davies who has been part of the 1sts and 2nds squads this year, with some success.
The most in-form player though is Andy Sullivan, the new Midland Juniors Champion Tournament winner and if Andy can keep up his play from the past two weeks, then records might tumble
If you want to come and see some top golf, your support will be very welcome. Play starts at 8.30 in the morning and 1pm for the second 18. |
