| One player who can't be considered for the teams is Jon Wetton who returns to Louisiana State University late in August, ready for the start of his final season of golf which begins on 15th September.
Jon hasn't played as he would have wanted in last year's US College season nor through this Summer -
'I have been struggling with my swing - I have been so technical - I wasn't so natural.'
An 8&7 first round win in the English Amateur two weeks ago (in terrible conditions) followed by another good win in R2 gave Jon some positive play to take back to America -
'I have to trust that my swing is good, just focusing in on the target.'
After this year, Jon has to spend half a semester (half a year) completing his degree in Marketing before he then makes his next decision on where he wants his golf to go.
One UK based player who has done very well this season is Mark Davies, with Top 3s in Midland Championships to go on his 2006 CV. Mark is one of a number of players who are very much in the thoughts of County Captain Graham Hargreaves for the 1sts team. Mark hasn't played there yet but he may well get his chance next month, especially after the recommendation given by his present team Captain Nick Clifford -
'Mark is a great player. He deserves his chance - so do quite a few of the guys who have played for the Seconds. They are a bunch of great players and they all want to play for Warwickshire - which is fantastic bearing in mind where we are in the League!.'
Its two very tough away matches to come for Seconds Captain Nick Clifford and his team. Last weekend, beating previous league leaders Worcestershire Seconds was accomplished by just one point and it was a strong middle order performance which gave our County that match by just one point.
Ben Senior played No 1 and lost on the 17th. Mark Davies produced another big win at No2, followed back to the clubhouse soon after by Antony Gascoigne at No3.
Making his debut for the Senior sides, Ben Bernamont won 6&4 at No 8 and Captain Clifford (at No 9) was a 5&4 winner to make the overall match score 7-4 to Warwickshire at that stage.
Our last three singles matches were all down and would eventually lose so when Sam Foster shook hands on the 18th for a 2up win, we were just a point shy of the half and needing an extra half a point for the overall win.
Liam Mallin provided the full point when he got up and down from a bunker at the 18th and behind him, Rob Browning 'did the business' by hitting his approach to just a few feet, a putt which was conceded giving Rob a half in his individual match and Warwickshire that 9.5 to 8.5 triumph.
