| The most horrendous thunderstorms which hit Harborne for over an hour, just as the teams had all completed nine holes.
As wet-to-the skin Captains, Directors and members of 48 of the 52 clubs struggled back to the clubhouse, there had to be an executive decision on trying to find a result on what was supposed to be a fun day to celebrate the Union's centenary - but still a competition all the same.
The question was asked and County Competitions Computer man Ernie Steene came up with the solution - then set about re-programming his laptop to produce the leaderboard who would eventually receive prizes.
Club Teams scores were assessed in relation to par and one team were clear winners - Leamington & County who were -3 for the complete nine holes they had played. The winning team was club President George Haynes and Buildings Chairman Des Bowen.
There were eight main prizes (full results will appear here shortly) and only one of the -1s made it to the prize table. There were six teams on -2. The third place went to the host club Harborne, Club Captain Steve Allen and Past president Keith Newman, and the second prize to Brandon Woods, the team made up of Club Captain Bill Ball who played with Ian West.
