From the 1st tee, the very first starters will be sure to be in contention. Rob Steele, winner of a Midland Championship over Coventry's links is paired with Cameron Clarke. Immediately after Ron will be Antony Gascoigne, a contender for the TP Cooke as well as for the Open title. Pictured is 2006 Open Champion Paul Randle, who will defend his title.

In the middle of the draw from the 1st tee in the morning (the 10th in the afternoon) are four players who all definately have the golf game to win the Open - Russell Heritage (Runner-up in the Open), Matt Cryer, Sam Hufton and Andy Jones who has played so well for the 1sts this season.

From the 10th tee in the morning, next year's County Captain Gareth Jenkins will be looking for much better form that he had for the Amateur. Gareth plays in the company of Andy Bownes who has show a bit of form on the Professional circuit this year.

Rory Kirwan, Mens Matchplay Champion for 2006, is in the middle of the draw, two groups ahead of Andy Sullivan the player Rory beat to take the Matchplay title. Both are very much in contention but the overall result of both cups will probably no be known until the very last player hands in his card. That player will be 2005 Open and Amateur Champion Paul Randle. Two group before Paul is recent double winner of the Open, from the Pros, in Adrian Carey.
