GOLF CLUBS OFFERED MAGICAL PAIRS EXPERIENCE FOR FREE - CALLING ALL CLUB OFFICIALS
Golf club officials across the region are being urged to come along this month and discover for themselves the magic that has made International Pairs one of the largest competitions in the world for club golfers. Olton Golf Club in Solihull is hosting a complimentary International Pairs Golf Day on Tuesday March 27 for golf club secretaries, captains and chairmen so they can discover more about the global tournament.

The free day will include coffee, bacon rolls and lunch and the chance to participate in a fourball betterball Stableford competition - with the winning pair earning a place in the 2007 International Pairs UK semi-finals.

And that will give them a chance to claim a spot in the UK Final, which will be staged at Carnoustie in October - three months after the Scottish venue has played host to the best players in the world at The Open Championship.

Ross Honey, founder and managing director of the International Pairs, said:

'The concept of the competition is very simple and we would like as many people as possible to experience what an International Pairs? event is like.

'The tournament offers great value for money and gives golfers of all abilities the chance to be successful, play some of the best courses in the country and meet some fantastic people.'

International Pairs, which is run in association with VisitScotland, has attracted competitors from all around the globe since Honey first conceived the idea in 1998.

Initially an event for club golfers in Hampshire to celebrate the millennium, the competition - which costs players just ? 5.00 to enter - has grown to include 25 countries including the likes of South Africa , Iceland, and the Philippines.

Finland became the latest country to join the International Pairs family when they signed up last month, while the 2007 world final will be staged in July at the magnificent Fairmont St Andrews golf resort at the Home of Golf.

Honey added:

'What started as a localised tournament in Hampshire has grown to such an extent that we attract more and more clubs and players across the globe year on year.

'Add to that the calibre of courses we can call on to host the International Pairs' semi-finals and finals, and a blossoming relationship with VisitScotland, and it's not hard to see why the International Pairs is such a successful competition and a successful brand.

'And we are working hard behind the scenes to ensure that the competition realises its true potential for the thousands of people who enter the tournament - both in the UK and all over the world.'

International Pairs has been backed by VisitScotland for the last five years - and the national Scottish tourist body has committed to be the tournament's main sponsor until at least 2008.
