The iconic floating green at the London Golf Show will return for its third year - but those wanting a totally unique golfing experience can play the Floating Par-3 Championship, also running from April 26-29. Both events will be located in the Victoria Dock, adjacent to the ExCeL centre. The Floating Par-3 Championship has a large green and three tees - two on land, and one floating in the dock - creating three par-three holes between 60 and 120 yards in length. Players will access the floating tee and green by floating walkways.

The Championship is a four-ball team event with each player hitting four balls and taking the best ball - or from a designated drop area if they fail to find the green. Players chip and putt out as normal before moving on to the next tee.

The leading scores will be posted on a leaderboard. Advance booking is required to participate.

Andy Barwell, the London Golf Show's marketing director, said: 'The Floating Par-3 Championship is an amazing concept and links perfectly with our iconic floating green.

'We are delighted Golf in the City Ltd came to us with the idea. This adds yet another dimension to what is building up to be the most spectacular London Golf Show yet.'

The Floating Par-3 Championship is hosted and promoted by Golf in the City Ltd, whose managing director, Julian Hay, said: 'The concept was a huge success when launched in Stockholm with 15,000 spectators watching top professionals like Annika Sorenstam.

'We have now developed the concept for amateur golfers, with our aim to make this one of THE annual City sporting events. In the London Golf Show we have found the perfect partner bringing 30,000 spectators and excellent media coverage. This gives us the ideal opportunity to introduce the concept to the UK - and in 2008 we are looking to develop a Pro-Celeb-Am televised format.'

The structure of the event means there are just 50 tee times available across the four days, of which 70 per cent have been sold. To guarantee teeing it up on the Floating Par-3 Championship booking in advance is essential.

The event will take 75 minutes including check-in and practice. Participants will receive free entry to the London Golf Show - guaranteeing a great day out.
