| The morning foursomes were shared 2.5 points apiece. Warwickshire had good starts in two matches, and lost them whilst Robert Bardsley and Jamie Carney threw four birdies at their opposition to turn a three hole deficit (after seven) into a final green win.
As so often this year, the Warwickshire tails waggles very well - more later.
Only Phill Wastell (at no 3) and matches nine and ten were going Warwickshire's way after the first nine holes of the afternoon singles. The turn-around started with Rob Bardsley suddenly finding his very best form.
Rob produced five birdies in seven holes and the overall match score was level again after Andy Bate's loss to Richard Prophet.
Sam Dodds made birdies at the 11th and 15th to square his match, playing at No 1. He then missed the 16th and with his opponent Ashley Chesters 15ft from the hole in two, looked odds-on to go one down with two to play.
Sam chipped to five feet and had to hole a gritty par putt to stay all square. Both players went long on the 17th and Chesters chipped to 7ft, Sam to 15ft. Sam holed and Chesters missed so a Dodds par at the 18th put Warwickshire back ahead.
Phill Wastell duly converted his five birdies into a 3&2 win so when Will Bailey's fight-back finished at the 16th when Will found the pond in front of the green, and James Hale, once four down but level on the same hole, saw his approach to the green fly it - James eventually losing on the 18th - two more points were still required for the half (good enough for the win and the league title).
Jamie Carney is tired after a long and successful season. He was one down coming to the same hole, the 16th, and seized on the one chance he was given with an S&H three putt by holing from 12ft at the next for a winning birdie, a result he duly converted with a par at the last, like Dodds.
Dan Baskott held a lead going to the same hole and lost it to an S&H birdie. The next tow holes were halved leaving the points shared in that match.
All year long, Andrew Geraghty and especially Chris Freeman have been vital members of the team, brining in points early or closing out close matches with everyone watching. They did it again at Worfield.
Andrew has not had the best of seasons but played in this match with new found confidence after a little bit of help - he and Freeman won their foursomes as well Two up for most of the match, Andrew lost the 16th and responded immediately to take his game 2&1.
Chris Freeman won his first four holes and kept that lead despite a slight injury to his wrist. He would win on the 15th.
'This shows we are a good team, a very good team,' said Boys Team Manager John Simpson, 'Its a great result after losing out on going to the County Finals '
Meanwhile it was smiles all round for the team, Chairman of Junior Golf John Jewsbury, your President and President elect John Stubbings and John Duncombe, and of course Dick Ferry!
