FIRST GUESTS CHECK INTO FORMBY HALL GOLF RESORT & SPA
The UK's only PGA national residential golf academy has opened its doors to the public for the first time with the launch of its stunning 4 star hotel. The first phase of the £ 10million development at Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa in Merseyside has been completed and the resort has welcomed its first guests to the 62 bedroom hotel.

The hotel combines sleek design with exceptional customer service and overlooks the resort's parkland and 18-hole golf course. Bosses are hopeful that the region's keynote development will attract people looking for a relaxing break near Sefton's coastline, as well as golfers from across the country.

Featuring a mix of spacious guest rooms and luxurious suites, the hotel forms a key part of the UK's only PGA (Professional Golfer's Association) endorsed residential golf academy, which will open in time for Capital of Culture celebrations.

Director of marketing, Gaynor Black, who joined Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa from De Vere Hotels & Resorts, said:

'First and foremost our focus is very much on 'guest experience' and visitors can expect the best of everything at Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa.

'Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa is one of the finest resorts in the north-west and with its final completion set to coincide with the 2008 Open at nearby Royal Birkdale, exciting times are ahead.'

The transformation from golf club to PGA national residential golf academy means guests will not just be offered a bed for the night, they can dine in the restaurant, relax in the spa and play golf on a championship 18-hole course as well as receive expert tuition from PGA professionals.

So intent on guaranteeing a top-class experience for its players and guests the resort has also launched 'Club Class Parking', a valet and pampering service for golf clubs. Designed to take the strain off players and keep golf clubs in tip-top condition, the service is open to all professional and amateur golfers at no extra charge.

The initiative will work on the same principle as valet parking for luxury vehicles at the world?s top hotels.

Gaynor Black added: 'It's the small things that make a difference to guest experience and we are determined to make sure no luxury is spared for our players and guests.'

The final phase of the £ 10million development which include the world class nine hole par three course and spa and leisure facilities will open in spring 2008.

Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa is just 30 minutes from Liverpool city centre and 10 minutes from Sefton's classic resort, Southport.
