ELIZABETH MALLETT SELECTED FOR SCOTTISH UNDER16 CHAMPIONSHIPS
Elizabeth Mallett has been selected as one of eight teenagers to represent The English Women's Golf Association for the Scottish U16 open strokeplay championship at Craigielaw Golf Club, near Edinburgh, on April 10 and 11. The event provides the players with an opportunity to gain championship experience and to prepare for the season ahead.

EWGA's national training manager Claire Lilley, said: 'We have a fantastically talented group of players who will benefit from the experience and use it as a great start to the season.'

Claire will accompany the squad, together with EWGA's national junior coach, Pat Smillie.

Elizabeth said 'I am excited to have been selected in the England squad. I have a lot to learn about golf at this level and am really delighted to have the opportunity of being involved. The whole experience should help my future development as a golfer.'

Over the winter months, Elizabeth has been working at improving all aspects of her game.

She said 'Since joining the Midlands Select training squad last September, I've been working hard on improving my swing and short game and look forward to putting it all together at Craigielaw. I am expecting a combination of a typical links style golf course together with breezy conditions, so intend to put in some additional practice time over the next few weeks working on keeping a lower ball flight to make sure I'm ready for the challenge.'

Elizabeth, who attends Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls, will have to take time off school to take part.

She added 'I would like to thank my schools head teacher Mrs Harrison who has agreed for me to take the time off school. It's my first time being involved so am pleased that the school are happy to support me so that I am able to join the other girls in the squad.'
