| Andy blew the field away with his opening 67, made up of five birdies and a solitary bogey at his last, to give him a three shot lead. His round started perfectly when having flown the 10th (his opener) with a five iron approach, all the hard work on his short game through the winter paid off handsomely as he chipped in.
The afternoon saw Andy's lead increase with a birdie at the 2nd, then in pouring rain, he doubled the 4th after a slightly crooked drive. Lip outs on the 6th, 7th and 8th were followed by a bogey at the 9th so when Andy wedged to 10ft at the Par 5 11th, and holed, it was a crucial point in the day. Another bogey came at the 16th before Andy birdied the final two holes for a two stroke win over Stiggy Hodgson, England International and past Daily Telegraph Champion.
