2008 McEvoy Trophy
Wednesday 16th April 2008 - Copt Heath Golf Club - Our Boys Captain Rob Bardsley has made it through comfortably to the final 36 holes of this year's Peter McEvoy Trophy. Although not at his best, Rob managed his game well enough for a first round 73, then a 36 in the second nine holes, to be seven shots back from the lead held by Scottish Junior Sam Binning.

The second 18 was curtailed to nine holes because of a 45 minute fog delay, then play taking 20 minutes too long because of slow play.

Binning opened with a 67 (-4) with six birdies then followed that with a level par 35 to be one shot ahead of BB&O's Eddie Pepperell. Joe Galbraith is one shot further back, then there are a group of five players on 105.

'I parred the first five,' said Rob of his morning round, 'which is good round here, then doubled the 6th.

'I then parred through to the 11th, dropped one and got that back at the 17th - and I lipped out on eighteen.'

Rob admitted he hit a few bad shots into the greens in the afternoon, bogeying three of the first four. He got two of those shots back with birdies on 7 and 8 and holed a gritty 12 ft putt for par on the last.
