In just over two weeks time the Warwickshire Ladies County Championship will be taking place at Leamington & Co Golf Club and last year's champion, Abbey Gittings, will be defending her title. WLCGA are delighted with this year's venue as it coincides with Leamington's Centenary Year. A fabulous undulating parkland course with extensive views across Warwickshire will provide the perfect challenge to all competitors.

Abbey (Walmley GC) will be joined by 27 other ladies in an attempt to score well enough over 36 holes to reach the all important top 16 slots and qualify for the match play element on Day 2 and Day 3. Seasoned County players Claire Howells (Moor Hall) and Lisa Barton (Coventry) are still chasing their first ever wins; Hannah Coles (Maxstoke Park) is returning from her first year in the United States to compete and Charlotte Dalton (Ladbrook Park) will be anxious to play her best.

Older and wiser threats are also there with Marsha Button (Nuneaton), Sue Westall (Copt Heath) and immediate past President Sue Timberlake (Edgbaston).

10 other ladies chasing the Silver Division Medal trophy over 18 holes join the 28 entries for the 36-hole competition. Last year's winner, Hannah Crump (Copt Heath), is unable to compete due to college commitments but there is no shortage of high quality entrants with two past County Champions, Tracy Atkin (Leamington & Co) and Claire Dowling (Copt Heath), taking up the challenge.

Results will be posted on the website at the end of Day 1 so you will all be able to see who will be competing on the following day.

Match play commences on Thursday 8th May at 9.00am with eight matches.

Quarter-finals start at 1.30pm

Semi-finals begin at 9.00am on Friday 9th May

The Finalists tee off at 1.30pm that afternoon.

Hopefully the conditions will be kind to the players and spectators alike. If you are free come along, watch and perhaps be inspired by the best in Warwickshire!
